Quality claims with evidence

VoxFree does not treat a large voice count as proof of quality. On July 24, 2026, we ran 126 automatic audio checks and one structured human listening review across 18 candidate voices. Eight English voices passed the featured-quality gate. None of the eight tested Chinese voices passed the stricter Chinese-English mixed-speech gate, so the planned Chinese-market launch was paused rather than promoted with weak audio.

Frequently asked questions

What is free, and what are the limits?

Anonymous listening includes up to 10 requests or 3,000 characters each day, with up to 800 characters per request. A free account raises that to 5,000 characters per request, with 10,000 short-form characters and 5 WAV downloads each day. Abuse and concurrency controls still apply.

How many voices are available?

The catalog contains 54 voices across nine voice-language groups. Eight English voices passed the current featured-voice review and appear first; the complete catalog remains searchable. The public quality benchmark explains the selection process.

Which languages are available?

The current voice-language groups are US English, UK English, Spanish, French, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese. Quality varies by language and voice, so preview a voice before generating longer material.

What does Pro add?

Pro unlocks the document workbench for projects up to 50,000 characters: paste long text, import a public article URL or PDF, edit sections, monitor progress, retry individual sections, and export one stitched WAV plus SRT subtitles. Fair use includes 100,000 generated characters per UTC day and 1,000,000 per UTC month; project files are retained for 30 days.

How much is Pro, and does it renew?

Pro is currently $12 USD for 365 days. It is a one-time payment and does not renew automatically. You can pay with PayPal or a PayPal-hosted debit or credit card. Activation codes remain available for support cases.

What file formats can I export?

Short-form and long-form audio export as WAV. Pro document projects also export timed SRT subtitles. VoxFree does not currently provide a direct MP3 download; WAV can be converted in most audio editors.

Can I use the audio commercially?

Yes. Free and Pro audio can be used in monetized videos, podcasts, courses, audiobooks, ads, games, and client work without attribution. Impersonation, fraud, illegal content, and resale of raw VoxFree service access are prohibited.

What data does VoxFree store?

Short-form text is processed to generate audio. Signed-in document projects retain imported text, project metadata, audio, and subtitles so history and retries work. Feedback messages and optional reply emails are stored separately. Payment card details stay with PayPal and never pass through VoxFree.
